When it Rains by Lisa De Jong
Guys. The time has finally come. This is about to be my least favorite blog post so far, because it is my first negative one.
With a 4.29 star rating on Goodreads, and also because it was on my guaranteed-to-make-you-cry list, I went into this with high expectations. After skimming some of the reviews on Goodreads and seeing that an overwhelming majority of them start with “cried my way through this book” or some variation of that sentence, you can imagine how excited I was to read this. Needless to say, I did not need a box full of Kleenex. The Kleenex I needed was probably limited to two. Continue reading
I sat down the other day. And read a book. It was about damn time too, I’ve only been on vacation for 11 out of the 14 days…
So I thought since I enjoyed Me Before You, the best thing to read should be the next book. And boy did it not disappoint. I do have to say tho, I didn’t know what to expect out of this book. I didn’t necessarily want it to be all about a new love she’s found but then I didn’t know what else it could be about. Well let me tell you, Jojo surprised me with this. Continue reading
Hey guys! It’s been a few days since my last post, and I’m sorry to say that I have not made any headway on any books I brought. Good thing I went through all the trouble of getting 12 books before my trip…
After spending what I deemed a reasonable amount of days with my host family, I decided to abandon them for a week and go off to stay with my best friend in the beautiful city of Torre Del Mar. So far all I’ve done this trip is eat and lay on the beach. So, needless to say, it’s been a greatly relaxing time, other than her two wild kids who’s energy never runs out. But I’ve gained maybe about 5 kilos in 5 days. Oh don’t get me wrong, there are scarcely any regrets. Between the fish, the pastries, beer, tinto de veranos and well, my unbelievable lack of self control, it’s all been worth it.
Tonight is off to the Feria of Malaga. To which apparently people get all dressed up for. For those of you who don’t know, a feria is basically a carnival. With rides. So imagine all these dressed up girls in maxi dresses and heels and hair done up all fancy, on rides. Something just doesn’t really add up. But who am I to judge customs. It is also possibly the most Spanish thing one can do whilst visiting Spain. It’s been 13 years since the last time I went, so you can only imagine my excitement 😁😁
Anyways! I’m hoping you all have an absolutely wonderful weekend!!! You’ll hear from me soon, I promise.
How was everyone’s week?? Mine was pretty good but honestly I was just waiting anxiously for Saturday to come because… I’m going to Spain for two weeks! It’s going to be nothing but sun and beach and books for me! I have 13 books on my kindle that are just waiting for me to devour. What’s that? You want to know what they are?? I’m glad you asked, this is them.
- The Martian
- All the Light we Cannot See
- When it Rains
- Into the Darkest Corner
- The Girl You Left Behind
- One Plus One
- The Last Letter From Your Lover
- The Husband’s Secret
- Before I go
- Something I Never Told You
- After You
- The Perks of Being a Wallflower
- Furiously Happy
So the real reason I wanted to list the books that I’m taking with me (virtually) is to see if I can get some opinions from you guys. Seeing as there are so many, there’s no way I’m actually going to get to read them all in those two weeks, but I wanted to know where you guys think I should start. It’s quite an intimidating list you see, so if you’ve read one or two or several, then your opinion matters to me and I want to hear it! So please! Leave a comment below, or send me a message in the Contact section to let me know what you have to say. I would really appreciate it! Who knows, maybe I’ll even send you a postcard and some paella from Spain. Well, not the paella but we can talk about the postcard.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I will write as soon as I can!
So I may be a little late to the game when it comes to writing a review for this wonderful book, but I promise you I read it months before the movie came out. If that helps my case in any possible way. Also, in all fairness, had I had a blog, I’m sure I would have written a review as soon as I had finished reading it.
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
I am dedicating my very first post to this book because after I starting and finishing it yesterday, I had to get my thoughts about it out. But the question became, where do I share my opinions? Do the good people of Goodreads really want to hear what I have to say about it? Why don’t I have a blog of my own where I can say what I want about what I want and no one can complain? So voila. Welcome to The Coffeephile Diaries. Continue reading
